Jen, a native of Emerson, Nebraska, began her lifelong career in fashion at the early age of 16 when she got her first job in men's clothing at a department store. She loved working with the merchandise and customers but found corporate was not where her heart was. When she started working at Swans Apparel late in her Wayne State College career, where she was majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences, she discovered working for a "mom and pop shop" was her calling. Jen managed Swans for 7 years before purchasing the store in early 2015. Jen has put her personal touch on the store in many different ways and feels so grateful for the amazing, loyal customers that have made her dreams come true.
In the spring of 2017, Jen and her husband decided it was time to bring men's clothing back to Wayne. Men's was added to the ladies store and it didn't take long to find out it was a great asset to the town. October 3, 2017 marks the opening date of Swans' second store, Swans for Men, located at 204 Main St (right across the street from Swans Apparel) where men's clothing and accessories for all ages can be found.
Jen loves attending clothing markets and choosing each individual piece for the stores. Aside from running the business, she enjoys boating and spending time at the family cabin in the summer and skiing in the winter. Her favorite person is her husband, Chad, but she also enjoys spending time with all of her nieces and nephews.
"I absolutely love what I do on a daily basis. I mean, we get to play dress up with life-size dolls - it's every little girl's dream!"
